About Us
Ciber Media is an independent technology publication covering cybersecurity, social media, technology and startups. We are based in Toronto, Ontario, and we write for a Canadian and international audience of IT professionals, founders, marketers and anyone who needs to understand what is actually happening in technology — without the hype.
What we cover
We publish reporting and analysis in four areas:
- Cybersecurity — disclosed breaches, ransomware and criminal ecosystems, actively exploited vulnerabilities, and the regulations that increasingly govern how organizations respond to all of it.
- Social Media — platform policy, age-verification and safety law, the creator economy, advertising, and the shifting relationship between platforms and publishers.
- Technology — artificial intelligence, semiconductors, data-center infrastructure, quantum computing, open source, and consumer hardware that has actually shipped.
- Startups — venture funding, valuations, exits, and the operating reality behind the headlines, with particular attention to Canada’s ecosystem.
How we work
Our editorial approach is simple and we hold ourselves to it:
- Primary sources first. Where a claim can be traced to a company filing, a regulator’s page, a vendor advisory, a court document or an official statistic, that is what we cite — not a summary of a summary.
- Numbers get checked. Funding amounts, user counts, breach figures, benchmark scores and compliance deadlines are verified against the original source before publication. When sources disagree, we say so rather than picking the more dramatic figure.
- Uncertainty is stated, not hidden. Estimates are labelled as estimates. Rumors are not reported as shipped products. If something is contested, the article says it is contested.
- Links out, always. Every article links to the sources it relies on so you can check our work.
Corrections
We will get things wrong. When we do, we correct the article and note what changed. If you spot an error — a wrong figure, a misattributed quote, an outdated status — write to [email protected] with the article URL and what you believe is incorrect. We take correction requests seriously and respond to them.
Independence and funding
Ciber Media is independently operated. We are not owned by, and do not take editorial direction from, any vendor, platform or investor we cover.
Where a page contains affiliate links or sponsored content, it is labelled as such on that page. Sponsorship never buys editorial coverage, a favourable angle, or the removal of an unfavourable one. Our Disclaimer sets out the full position.
Use of AI tools
We use AI tools in parts of our production process — for research assistance, drafting support, and copy editing. Every article is reviewed and fact-checked by a human before publication, and the sources cited in each piece are checked against the original material. We consider the accuracy of what we publish our responsibility regardless of which tools were involved in producing it.
